Router Configuration Example for RushTrader’s Hub
If you use a router and want to use Active Mode on the Rushtrader’s Hub, you must set it up to forward the connections from the router to the computer. Check your router documentation for details, along with the DC FAQ at http://rush.daneck.com (look under DC Connections). This short demo using a Linksys router will give you a basic idea of what to do.
Step 1. Open up your web browser and open up your router (File>open>’router address’). Check your router documentation for the specific router address, but in this case it is 192.168.1.1 (User name: admin, Password: admin). You should see a router setup page:
Step 2: Look around for a section that is named something like “port forwarding”, “port range forwarding”, “port translation”, “port mapping”, or something like that. You then need to enter the “port number” and “local IP address”, and you need to enable this for both TCP and UDP. · Port number can be any number between 1024 to 65535, and it will be input into the DC++ program settings). · Local IP address can be found like this: o Windows XP or 2000 (START>RUN>cmd /k ipconfig /all) o Windows 9x (START>RUN>winipcfg).
